Basal metabolic rate

This is a big word.  It’s sometimes called BMR.  I’d think Burn Me Rate makes it more clear what BMR means.  Its the burning rate of energy for just the vital parts.  In tune, “burn me burn me, work this body, work this bodeeee……..”   Medicine defines these parts very specifically and can be understood in great detail.  It’s really like sleeping and cooking on simmer. That’s good, the body’s supposed to be working this way.  A “burn me rate” or basal metabolic rate fluctuates.  Say that ten time, whew!.   It goes up and down in interesting waves.  Up with foxy muscles and down with stressors and previously eaten foods and liquids.   So when a basal metabolic rate number is given, it means all of this and then some.    Really, it makes sense that if you consume less than this number of calories in meals and drinks and grab and go’s daily, the body will require more energy just to hang out.  Thus…..”burn me burn me, work this body, work this bodeeee……..”, a good path to be on if weight loss is necessary.

new foods to add

The food industry is expanding and presenting multiple options to use to make cooking taste good and look good.  Willing to try something new?  A few quick suggestions: hearts of palm sliced up in a salad or eaten alone; dried lemon peel and low sodium soy sauce for marinating tuna steak; black beans stir fried and topped with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese…….   stay tuned, more ideas on the way…..
