lately

Pondering about new foods we see nowadays.  Recently, pickled radish was presented in a package for home usage.  It’s so pickly good.  It is often found in connection with Japanese cooking.  Wondering how to use this more.  I think adding pickled radish to any cold salad would be great.  Added to a light tuna salad maybe too.  It is great plain really.  The best just by itself.  Try it.  I haven’t found it in local grocery stores yet, only international stores, government bases.

food allergy thoughts

Allergies to foods are running rampant.  Seems to be showing up all over.  The cause of the food allergies are numerous, including genetics, chemicals in foods and environment, diseases.  There are a plethora of ideas to help combat food allergies.  Strong education is important for any family which includes someone who has allergies.  Recipe books specific to food allergies are a great source for substitution suggestions.  Recently, at a local market, I found a spice section that sold arrow root powder. I was impressed and thankful that these substitutions for common food allergies are becoming easier to find.  This and the vegetarian bistro at the market were both good options if wheat free or dairy free is what is needed.  Keep a look out.
